Where You Can Make Donations to California Wildfire Evacuees
One million people have been displaced from their homes by the wildfires in Southern California. Evacuees sit in hotel rooms, sports facilities and school gymnasiums with an uncertain future ahead of them. Some will be able to return home and others will not have homes to return to.
The losses suffered by those affected by this fire will be felt for many months to come, and the holiday season is upon us. Kendra Cook, Senior Concierge at Westfield Main Place Mall in Santa Ana, CA could not stand by and do nothing while so many people were going through the loss of their homes. Kendra lost her home to fire as a small child. She remembers well how much some clean clothing and a few toys meant to her when her community’s good Samaritans got together to help out her family. This memory spurred her into action.
With the consent of Westfield Main Place management team and the help of Officer David Ly of the Santa Ana Police Department, Kendra has made Westfield Main Place a drop off and disbursement center for a variety of donations to organizations that help disaster victims. There will be a large donation event Sunday, November 4th at 12pm until 5pm with the Santa Ana Police Department Explorers on hand to help collect and sort donations. This event will be held at the address listed below in Parking Lot 7 on the northeast side of the building facing Main Street.
Donations of food, clothing, comfort items, toys, toiletries, pet supplies, and money can be dropped off almost any time at Westfield Main Place in Santa Ana, CA during the hours of 10am to 9pm Monday through Friday, 10am to 8pm on Saturday, and 11am to 7pm on Sunday. Westfield Main Place is located at 2800 N. Main St. Santa Ana, CA 92705. The drop off point is located at the North end of Westfield Main Place, at the Shopping Concierge Center.
Westfield Main Place will also transport the donations to the sites of the charitable organizations that need them.
