IRVINE, CA (April 25, 2008): The Irvine Animal Care Center is hosting its second annual Bunnies Galore Adoption Event on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come by the Center to find a new furry friend, or bring your current bunny companion for a free nail trimming and advice on caring for rabbits. The Center has more than 40 rabbits of all sizes and colors ready to hop their way into your heart.

The Bunny Bunch, a non-profit rabbit rescue dedicated to finding safe and loving homes for rescued rabbits, will also be on site selling fun and practical items for your gentle friend at their Bunny Boutique.

All rabbits adopted from the Irvine Animal Care Center are spayed or neutered, micro chipped, and come with a copy of the House Rabbit Handbook, a bag of hay, and one free basic health examination within 5 days of adoption from an IACC approved veterinarian.

IACC is also offering discounts on adoption fees for dogs, cats, and rabbits during the event! All shelter pets are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, micro chipped, vaccinated, de-wormed, and treated for fleas. Cat and dog adoptions also include a free five-pound bag of Science Diet pet food and rabbit adoptions include a copy of the House Rabbit Society’s How To Live With an Urban Rabbit book and a bag of hay. This is an excellent opportunity to find your new furr-ever friend and support shelter animals.

All proceeds benefit Irvine’s homeless pet population by providing needed supplies including bedding, toys and treats while the animals await adoption into a loving home or are reunited with their original owner.

Named 2007 Shelter of the Year at Purina’s Pro Plan’s 53^rd Annual Show Dogs of the Year Awards, the IACC is the largest pro-humane animal shelter in Orange County, and receives around 4,000 animals each year. The shelter received the award based on their disaster relief efforts during the Southern California wildfires last fall.

Located in a beautiful, five-acre park-like facility, the IACC prides itself on replicating family life for shelter pets temporarily in its care. Each pet enjoys a daily routine of playtime, socialization and exercise and receives high-quality pet food provided by Science Diet. The shelter is also home to 14 farm-yard animals, including two goats, three pigs and nine chickens.
