(VANCOUVER, B.C.) - 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is organizing one of the largest ever e-waste recycling drives to mark International Earth Day. Approximately 70 Franchise Partners across North America will hold simultaneous events where residents will have the opportunity to responsibly recycle old electronics with minimal or no cost. The events will be held Saturday, April 19th. Participating 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Franchise Partners are working with e-waste recyclers that have demonstrated responsible recycling practices.
"This is our effort to raise awareness for Earth Day, and we also hope this event will help to educate the public about proper e-waste disposal," says Drew Boyles, who owns franchises in the Los Angeles area.
Residents are often reluctant to pay electronics disposal fees, or are unaware of recycling options. Many outdated and obsolete electronics are thrown in dumpsters, which ultimately end up in landfills.
Companies like 1-800-GOT-JUNK? are faced with disposing of e-waste daily. On a system-wide basis, Franchise Partners typically aim to recycle and/or donate to charity up to 60 percent of the junk they haul.
