Gypsy Den

If you find yourself at The Lab ("The Anti-Mall") or in the Downtown Santa Ana Arts District, you MUST find your way to the Gypsy Den! Healthy food, stimulating surroundings and interesting people are just a few of the reasons to stop and enjoy. On Mondays & Thursdays, catch their "Open Mic" Night at Santa Ana. On the Second Saturday of most months, the Santa Ana restaurant hosts Riff Raff Vintage Swing Band from 8 to 11 p.m. Riff Raff also does a jam the First Wednesay of the month. Live Magazine hosts a showcase every Tuesday at 8 p.m.  Costa Mesa, Santa Ana
Mensa - Orange County Chapter

"What does Orange County Mensa really do? Mostly, we share with each other. We do this through monthly open houses and other social activities, and through monthly newsletters. We love thinking and learning new things, so when we can, we'll get speakers on any ol' topic - constitutional law, developments in genetics, you name it - and spend the evening expanding our minds. Our Speaker's Forums are open to the public. Maybe even before the Internet had them, Mensa had its 'Special Interest Groups' (SIGs). A lot of the events posted in the calendar are SIG activities: SIG interests can range completely all the way from the ridiculous to the sublime. Eight Ball? Blood donors? Classical music? Orange County Mensa has them. Mensa holds many 'Regional Gatherings' through the year, weekends where we'll convene at some hotel or other and spend the weekend doing what we enjoy most, sharing and learning (and eating and drinking and playing games and going to parties and...). In Orange County, we generally hold ours sometime in August. It's our group's big event of the year. We support gifted children programs, education in general, and through the national group, research into the phenomenon of human intelligence." Regular meetings include: 1st Wednesday 8-Ball Brigade - A happy hour where some (but not necessarily all) play pool. Meets first Wednesday of the month (except holidays) at Danny K's in Orange. 1st Friday Beerhunters - A movable beer feast. We visit a different brewpub on the 1st Friday of each month. Socializing, eating & drinking. 2nd Friday Happy Hour - Actually does meet on the 2nd Friday. Socializing, eating & drinking with friendly and distinguished group. 2nd Saturday Good Movies - We see "art films." We decide on the movie in front of the theater. After, we get a bite to eat, and share impressions. 3rd Friday at Hollingshead's - Actually does meet on the 3rd Friday. Socializing, eating & drinking at friendly neighborhood joint."
OC Ski & Snowboard Club

"Founded in 1965, the Orange County Ski & Snowboard Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to bring southern California skiers and snowboarders together for some real fun on the snow. Every year we put together great ski trips to Mammoth as well as other destinations, such as Whistler/Blackcomb, Big Mountain, Jackson Hole, Lake Louise, Val d'Iser, Steamboat, Alyeska, and more. Our club is a member of the Far West Ski Association (FWSA), which is the regional voice of skiing for the states of California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Arizona. During the off-season, we engage in cycling, hiking, barbecuing, and other fun. Meetings: September through May, we meet the first and third Wednesday of each month... at 7:30 p.m. During the months of June through August, we meet the first Wednesday."  Costa Mesa
