Newport Harbor Annual Christmas Boat Parade

"Join over a million viewers as you watch beautifully decorated yachts, boats, kayaks and canoes sail along the harbor in the 96th Annual Newport Harbor Christmas Boat Parade. Presenting Sponsor Simple Green, Official Sponsors the Daily Pilot and Janes Capital Partners, and the Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce invite you to sail to the theme of 'A Winter Waterland.' As Newport Beach’s Christmas Card to the world, the boat parade will set the harbor ablaze for five consecutive nights, beginning Wednesday, December 15 and ending Sunday, December 19, 2004. The parade starts off Collins Island at 6:30 pm and finishes at the same site at approximately 8:30 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and 9:00 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. (Two separate routes are run on different evenings.) Beautiful multi-million dollar yachts, kayaks, canoes and other small boats will light up the harbor as a dazzling array of holiday lights and music fill the air at the Christmas Boat Parade. Many of the boats will be richly decorated with animated Christmas scenes accompanied by music and costumed carolers. With this year’s theme, participants are also encouraged to decorate their boats taking into account the unique celebration of the holiday season in Southern California. Some boat owners in the past have spent over $50,000 to decorate their vessels for the event. The Christmas floats will wind their way some 14 miles around the harbor to give viewers in restaurants, yacht clubs, on public beaches, and in private homes a incredible sight that has delighted millions of people for 95 years."  Newport Beach

Orange Council of Ski Clubs

"Since May 5, 1971, Orange Council of Ski Clubs has been addressing the issues of Skiers in and around the Orange County and Southern California. Originating from the Southern Council to better serve the high concentration of skiers in this area, this motto was established - 'Toward Better Skiing.' We are and always have been an active member of the Far West Ski Association and we are also a member of the National Ski Council Federation. 'Toward Better Skiing' Our Council and our clubs are still striving toward that goal. Our volunteer based organization encourages our people to get in shape for skiing, find great travel adventures, support disabled skier programs/ other charities, be informed on public affairs issues, oh yes--ski and embrace the opportunities on the recreational race course with our own Schusski Race League. Each year we sponsor a trip to the Far West Ski Association Ski Week. In the past we have joined FWSA for Steamboat Springs, Jackson Hole, Lake Louise, Whistler/Blackcomb, Sun Valley, (to name a very few) and this year for the 2004 trip we plan to attend FWSA Ski Week at Lake Louise, Canada. Each race weekend there is a Council sponsored bus trip. Whether it is on Alpine, Nordic, mono, or shaped skis, snowboard, snowshoes, dog or horse drawn sleds or snowmobiles our people plan to have fun in the snow! Our local weather provides us the opportunity to play tennis, to bike, and to inline skate, as well as participate in snow sports in the winter, too. Spring offers beach volleyball, mountain biking, golf, hiking, not to mention water related sports – the varieties are endless. Some of the present clubs were part the historical inception in 1971and others are just making history – skiing – enjoying snow sports, making and being friends – all of the things associated with ski clubs with all seasons activities. Each of our clubs is unique – therefore it is easy to say – there is a club especially for you."
