Swimming Instruction in Orange County, California

Aqua Wave Swim School
"Aqua Wave Swim School pool has been in operation since April 1997. Marla Blauman, CEO, has been teaching swimming and refining teaching skills for over 40 years. Her parents, Mel and Doris Maxwell, founded a swim school in Orange County in 1956. Many of the teaching methods used here at Aqua Wave were developed by Mel and Doris and modified by Marla. Facility Aqua Wave Swim School pool is enclosed to provide warmth in winter and protection from the sun in the summer. Our facility is specifically designed for teaching in warm water (92°-94°). The pool is child friendly with play areas for swimmers and non-swimmers. Our water filtration system is 300% better than required by the health department. Instructors Our well-qualified Aqua Wave instructors love to teach children and children love to learn from them. Every instructor is trained extensively in the Aqua Wave method and certified in CPR. Instructor development and training continues year-round with workshops, conferences, and hands-on help from our supervising instructors."  Foothill Ranch

Blue Buoy Swim School
"The foundation we develop has three main elements: Breath Control, Balance Control and Movement in the water. Before a child can master strokes and kicking there must be an understanding of how different breathing in the water is from breathing on land. They must learn to control when to hold, when to exhale and when to inhale while passing through the surface of the water. Learning to control equilibrium in the water is required before any movement skills can be learned. Balance in the water is opposite of what a child experiences on land and can cause a great deal of anxiety until control is gained. Once there is comfort with the breath control and balance the child will make confident progress with the movement skills. At Blue Buoy the student is always taught at his individual level. Teachers will consider where a child is in his development in four areas: Physical, Emotional, Mental and Social. No child will be asked to try something for which they are not developmentally ready. Great beginnings through strong foundation building have provided thousands of our students with swimming skills that they can enjoy for life. While it is not our purpose to develop the Olympic champion in each student, it is our goal to provide the potential for that to occur. It is with great honor that Blue Buoy has seen four of its’ former students compete in the Olympic Games and another to hold the world record for the English Channel Crossing."  Tustin

Waterbabies Swim School
"Waterbabies Swim School began over twenty years ago in a backyard pool in Capistrano Beach. The intimate backyard environment was comfortable for both parents and their children and worked beautifully. In keeping with that tradition, Waterbabies has now built its new home pool in the beautiful backyard of an original Ole Hanson cottage in downtown San Clemente. We offer small, semi- private classes, starting our babies at 5 months of age and continuing to completion with advanced stroke refinement. Our new pool is saltwater, with an Ozone system to instantly kill bacteria. Our pool is heated year-round to a wonderful 90°. We have expanded our program to include lessons at the beautiful Rancho San Clemente Tennis & Fitness Club. Our classes and philosophy remain the same at all our locations: small, semi-private classes with individual attention in a positive learning environment filled with lots of praise and love. We also include children with disabilities and will extend a special program for autistic children in our new pool."  San Clemente
