Skateboarder Magazine

cover Skateboarder Magazine is based in San Juan Capistrano. "Founded in 1964, PRIMEDIA's Skateboarder became the blueprint for skateboarding journalism. The publication resurfaced as a bi-monthly in 1999, set to rewrite the rules of skateboarding coverage in an industry whose sources of media had run dry. Now as a monthly magazine, Skateboarder--with a dramatically increased presence on the newsstand and overall distribution, and having gained a vast subscriber base--has accomplished this goal."

STI Sole Technology Institute

Apparently the testing lab for Etnies, es Footwear, and Emerica shoe brands. Shoes displayed on website include Etnies Benson, Response, Sentry, Floyd, Club; es EK-01 & Accel Plus, and the Emerica Meta. "STI, or the Sole Technology Institute, is the world's first and only biomechanics research organization dedicated to the study of skateboarding and action sports. Realizing that much of today's action sports footwear technology has been 'borrowed' from other sports due to lack of research, STI is focusing on learning more about the impacts of skateboarding through scientific research and testing, as well as developing and testing new technologies to capitalize on what our research teaches us. The research we conduct will be used to promote longevity, reduce the risk of injury, and improve the performance of skateboarders around the world. STI's on-site biomechanics research laboratory houses only the most advanced state-of-the-art biomechanics and physical testing equipment. At over 10,000 square feet, the new STI Lab research facility is huge, featuring everyday skateboarding obstacles like handrails, stairs and ledges to be use for biomechanics research... So far, STI studies have revealed conclusive evidence that the impact of skateboarding on the body is purely unfathomable in comparison to other physical activities. STI Research ™ Development has been very busy experimenting with new technologies that will help reduce the risk of injury without compromising board feel or control. The first of these technologies is System G2™, the first ever skateboarding-specific technology to be developed through the biomechanics research of skateboarding. System G2™ has been proven extremely effective in the absorption of impact, again without the compromise of board manipulation. Furthermore, System G2™ technology is very resilient and lasts much longer than other commonly used shock absorption materials such as EVA."
