"The Balboa Fun Zone is one of Southern California's oldest and last great coastal amusement areas....
Located on the Balboa Peninsula of Newport Beach....
There's the Balboa Pier, built on the site of Glen Martin's historic the first water-to-water flight, from Balboa to Catalina Island in 1912, and is one of the few piers to survive undamaged by Southern California's destructive coastal storms of the '80s.
There's the Catalina Flyer, one hour to Catalina Island. The Balboa Island Ferry, only 50 cents. The harbor cruises, whale watching cruises, sport fishing, quaint shops and great restaurants.
And, of course, there's the Balboa Fun Zone. Since 1936, the Fun Zone's ferris wheel has been a day and night landmark on the Newport Harbor scene, beckoning all to join in the fun....
Completely rebuilt from the ground up in 1986, the Fun Zone's ferris wheel, merry-go-round, bumper cars scary dark ride, arcades, fun food, and shops still make it the highlight of every visit to Balboa."
