Volleyball star. "Elaine or 'EY' as she's known on the sand, was named 2002 AVP MVP, Best Offensive Player and Best Blocker, but her greatest accomplishment was winning the Bronze Medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens alongside her former partner Holly McPeak. The two made history as the first U.S. women to medal in beach volleyball. The 2005 season marks Elaine's ninth year playing professional beach volleyball. She has 30 Pro Beach Volleyball titles. The 2002 season was her most accomplished as she and Holly earned five titles domestically and four international first place titles. EY was born in El Toro, California on Valentines Day."

"When I was three years old, I learned how to swim in a lake called Snow Pond, in Maine, where my mother’s father had taught her to swim. I swam there in the summer, and the rest of the year I took lessons in an indoor heated pool. I started entering swim meets a couple of years later, but itwasn’t until my family moved to California, in 1969, and I participated in a race in the Pacific that I realized how much I loved swimming in open water. In August, 1971, when I was fourteen years old, I swam twenty-seven miles, from Catalina Island, in Southern California, across the Catalina Channel to the mainland. The swim took twelve hours and thirty-six minutes..." Lynne went on to swim the English Channel, the Strait of Magellan, the Cape of Good Hope, across Lake Titicaca, through the Gulf of Aqaba, and across the Bering Strait, from the United States to the Soviet Union. Lynne is an author and a motivational speaker, in addition to being a world class long-distance swimmer.

According to Wikipedia: "Mark David McGwire (born October 1, 1963 in Pomona, California) is a former first baseman in Major League Baseball who played from 1986 through 2001.... McGwire ended his career with 583 home runs, which was then 5th-most in history. He hit 50 or more home runs four seasons in a row (1996-1999), and led Major League Baseball in homers all four seasons."

Closer to home, she also paired up with the gold medalist at the Hermosa Beach Open finals. This season, Rachel will pair up with another Olympian bronze medal winner Elaine Youngs for her sixth season.. In 2004, Rachel competed with Angie Akers where the team's best finish was a third at the Huntington Beach Open. Rachel graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Communication where she was also named Big 12 All-Conference twice. Born and raised in Laguna Beach."

According to Wikipedia: "Thomas Charles Lasorda (born 22 September 1927 in Norristown, Pennsylvania) was a Major League baseball player and manager. In 1999 he marked his 50th year of involvement, in one capacity or another, with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization... After retiring, Lasorda became an executive within the Dodgers organization. Lasorda was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997. He was the manager for the gold medal United States Olympic team in 2000. Lasorda is the godfather to major league All-Star catcher Mike Piazza's (also from Norristown). His son, Tommy Lasorda, Jr passed away in 1991. Lasorda lives in Fullerton, California."
