Vietnamese Cultural Information & Resources in Orange County, California

Vietnamese Community of Orange County
"Establish in 1979 as a refugee resettlement support agency operating out of a makeshift storefront office in an area that now became today's 'Little Saigon,' in Westminster, California, the Vietnamese Community of Orange County, Inc. (VNCOC) has gradually expanded its operations to respond to the rapidly evolving needs of the local Vietnamese-American population (est. 200,000), the largest concentration of Vietnamese outside of Vietnam. Now with some 15 social service programs and a Community Economic Development Project based at its agency-owned headquarters in Santa Ana and at its branch office in Westminster - the 'Little Saigon Economic, Social & Cultural Center' - and with the low-cost health care services provided by its affiliated office, the VNCOC Asian Health Center, the VNCOC, as the largest non-profit, community-based organization of its kind, has touched the lives of tens of thousands of people and has come to be regarded as a real institution in the Vietnamese-American community... Job Placement Center: The program provides vocational training, job search and resumes writing, job placement, and job retention to more than 1,000 clients per year. The Center is a valuable source for American companies who seek Vietnamese speaking employees or wish to learn more about how to manage Vietnamese personnel. The VNCOC Asian Health Center: Founded in June of 1998 in response to the urgent health needs of the large medically-underserved population in the community, and with the help of the Baxter Foundation, St. Joseph Hospital, Hoag Hospital, the Children's Hospital of Orange County, and other leaders in the health care community, the VNCOC Asian Health Center has quickly established itself as a premier provider of low-cost, high-quality preventive and primary health care services to the uninsured, and socially and economically disadvantaged people."  Santa Ana
"Vietspace is a virtual community created by Kicon. The web site is currently being restructured to offer several new web-based software features, including the ability to easily create websites like this one in both English and Vietnamese completely over the Web. The chatrooms and forums allow you to type directly in Vietnamese. "  Garden Grove
